< About iGEM >

iGEM (international Genetically Engineered Machine) is an international synthetic biology competition for students held once a year. Participating teams will combine genetic parts (BioBric) managed by the competition headquarters as open-source data and genetic parts they have developed themselves, and introduce them into microorganisms such as E. coli like a program. In this competition, students from all over the world compete with each other on the functions and ideas of programmed microorganisms.
In 2025, more than 400 teams from 50+ countries are scheduled to participate.
